Selection of images

I have started going trough all of the images and chose which best represent the theme. I have selected some portraits and some that simply show the feeling of the night. I will have to make another selection from these images as some seem repeated and some might not work with the final work.

The following are the selected and edited images from the ones chosen before. I have narrowed them down and removed repetitive images. Obviously I will not be using 17 images for my final so I will need to choose between them once more. 
Images labelled from 1 to 11 are the images that have been chosen and given a sequence with the help of my lecturer. The other images have been removed because they are similar to the final once and they were not as strong. For example image E0095 did not really fit as great. Image A E0169 and 366 were discarded and instead I opted for image 2 because I felt that image 2 had a better feeling to it and 366 had a big advert in the background which could be distracting. The portraits were all kept besides C E0190 because there is not much feel of the place and it was the only one taken with a flash from all the images. For a restaurant image I was choosing between image 4, 8 and D E0314, and eventually I only removed 1 because I favoured 8 over the other and image 4 still fit in so I left it with the chosen.  Image 6 was chosen over B E0305 because you can see that the women have a mask on and it better shows what use to be a staircase full of people to now completely empty. I was not sure about keeping image 11 but as my lecturer helped me with a sequence it perfectly fit to be a final image. I like it because it does perfectly fit the end of the night, when you are tiered and can hardly even focus anymore, that is usually a sign to head home but also that it was good hand out night. 

I will be re visiting the sequence and maybe add or remove images. Hopefully the next look at the images will be the final.

I think this will be the last sequence and the last chosen images. I have replaced image number 5 because as I was looking through the images I found a better image. Image 9 has also been replaced with a portrait because I wanted to add another portrait to the sequence and removed what I feel was a slightly weak images next to the others as it is very underexposed and I could not brighten it more. 
I will be viewing the sequence before submission to be sure that is what I would want to present as a final.

In this photo story, we can see the works of Nick Hedges who was asked by Shelter, the charity, to photograph poor homes. This body of work seems to include a lot of overall shots of the run down and even demolished buildings in locations such as Liverpool, Glasgow and Manchester. The overall shots help in showing the full location rather than parts of it and it gives the images opportunity to speak for themselves. In this particular body of work, there are also a few sentences explaining the situation, but I think the titles and images would be enough to tell the story. By this I mean is that, once you see the children playing in the rubble, or any location where a child is not meant to be, I can easily connect it to poverty. Genevans keep one step ahead of COVID-19 - Michael Merne

This is a body of work by the fine art street photographer, Michael Merne who decided to photograph the city of Geneva during the Covid-19. Merne hopes that one day we will look at his work and be able to say that that is how it was. First thing I found interesting about this work is that there are not only images of people in the street with a mask, but he also has some overall shots of empty shops and streets. I quite enjoyed the image of the man by the beach, he was all alone and it could be the only place where he finds comforting. Another nice image is the one with the mannequin wearing a mask that shows that the situation is changing a lot of things, one of them being fashion. In the photo story there are a lot of great images which speaks the truth, but there are 2 images were people are not wearing masks. Project Introduction

Youths After Sundown Photograph the Maltese  youth in the  streets. The idea for my assignment is to focus on M altese youths  during the Covid times. I want to go into the  hang outs  and photograph how  youths are spending their time now a days with the new measures that are limiting them for the usual .  With every person photographed I would like to have a chat with them to get their thoughts about the situations we are facing and how it is effecting them.  Experimentation will include me asking  youths were they go out to meet friends or simply relax instead of their usual places.  I will also be going around and photographing just to see if it will be a good project to work on.   As for research, beside the survey, I will be looking into other photographers who worked on a similar project and photographers who have a style I would like to portray.
